TACHYONS- The particles faster than light!!

     When scientists speak of light they always think about its speed. Its speed is beyond our imagination. But somehow by numerous experiments,scientists have come to know the speed of light. It is exactly ”29,97,92,458 meters per sec”(i.e. 1,86,000miles/sec and 2,99,337,984 km/sec). This was the greatest achievement of the scientists in 19th century. Many scientists had made attempts to measure the speed of light,among them Galileo,Olaus Roemer,James Bradely and finally,a world renowned scientist “Albert Einstein” finally resolved it.
      But at present, we dwell in 21st century. The scientific era has advanced to where we give life’s to robots and do other, what earlier seemed impossible things. In this age, the speed of light does not make us wonder. Some scientists conducted some experiments,experiments far beyond anyone’s imagination and came to a hypothetical conclusion that there are particles, which travel faster than the speed of light although there has been no serious arguments to support its existence.

     It has been named “Techyon”(which means swift). It is still a hypothetical rule atomic particle. But scientists are trying hard to detect it. However, as it travels faster than the speed of light, it can’t be seen through any of the devices or instruments, we have at present. The first description of tachyons are attributed to the German physicist Arnold summer field in late 20th century.

     The idea of techyons originated first during some research conducted by scientists who tried to send signals faster than that of light. But now in 21st century everything is computerized. Yet there is need for increasing speed  of data transfers. Some computer technicians with the help of scientists have invented a device know as “U.S.B.3.0″(Universal serial bus). At present we have U.S.B.2.0. Hence U.S.B.3.0 is a latest version of it. It can increase the speed of data transfers by about 5 times. U.S.B.3.0 is due to be marketed by the end of 2010 or beginning of 2011. Even with U.S.B.3.0 we are still far behind the speed of Tachyons.

     During September 2009 scientists were conducting some experiments related to an elementary particle, the most basic building block of matter, that doesn’t experimentally experience the strong nucleic force, namely Lepton. And in there experiments, they have found that the elementary particle of Lepton show some behavior, which is identical to the behavior of  Tachyons. But, as the experiments are still in progress, there is no hot debate on the existence of Tachyons.

     Therefore when the brilliant people in this world discover Tachyons, just imagine its adoption ! We would able to send signals faster than the  speed of light to greater distances and achieve what is impossible in the world of communication. Let us hope that thous brilliant scientists who are conducting experiments for the progress of human race succeed.
